"I don't know what it is, but I know that I..." like it. Thanks, Billy Joel. Or, maybe Flo Rida's "I don't like it, I love it...!" Aesthetic: I - naturally, of course, - like it, and now even like spelling out this teaser-word. I've had this number 6 jpg sitting on my desktop for months, just hanging out, reminding me of a summer lawn's color and texture, the smooth pores of the worn rocks and the sun's heat on their faces while cool dampness shapes to their bellies. And I'm drawn to this image. |
It is an invisible language speaking to us in a world brimming with man-made and organic messages. It sounds like a question for AP Language, "Which is more compelling: man-made or naturally-occurring aesthetic?" Rhetorically, is the perfection of a sleeping baby's face only imitated by the curves of a bathroom sink or the shape of car's hood around its headlights? When men and women are drawn to a shoe - you know 'shoe' people - is it the same spark of excitement as when they hear birds chirping or rain falling on the roof at night? Is the aesthetic conditioned or innate?
