Jon had apparently been enjoying some media with his breakfast this morning, but it was not the morning news; rather, I often hear him in the morning eating his breakfast in front of his computer and laughing loudly at some joke on Futurama or Arrested Development. Today, Jon got a real kick/"Wow..."-moment when the this summer's discovery of the Higgs-Boson ("God" particle) was confirmed yesterday, and the topic was mirrored on the computer screen in front of him. The real particle is apparently exactly as scientists have hypothesized for decades and they're now a little disappointed that there are no questions to be answered about the particle...JUST LIKE the professor experienced in the "Future Challenge 3000" segment of the Futurama episode etitled "Reincarnation". In that part of the episode, Professor Farnsworth got dejected and down after he made a tremendous discovery, but he had no more puzzles and mysteries to solve. This reallife deja vu provides an interesting perspective on the life and goals of scientists and researchers; as well, the 8-bit storytelling also is a thought-provoking choice.
